Buick Riviera Model Years

The Buick Riviera was the first luxury coupe made by GM back when it was first offered for the 1963 model year. It featured rear-wheel drive until 1979, after which it offered a standard front-wheel drive set-up. With the exception of a brief hiatus in 1994, the car was available across eight generations until it was discontinued following the 1999 model year. The Riviera name is so revered, it was used to tease concept cars showcased in 2007 and 2013.

In that final model year of 1999, the Buick Riviera packed a supercharged V8 engine under the hood, mating it to a four-speed automatic transmission. Standard features included four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, stainless steel dual exhaust, halogen headlights, 16-inch wheels, heated front seats, remote keyless entry, and an AM/FM stereo with CD and cassette.
